Located just off the Cathedral
Green in Exeter, domani specialises in 18th & 19th
century English and Continental town and country
furniture and objects. These are displayed in period
showrooms, together with carefully sourced individual
contemporary accessories including ironwork, mirrors,
pewter, silk, ceramics, glass and paintings.
Proprietors Caro and Jonathan
were determined to disprove the myth that antique shops
are dark brown, stuffy and boring, and instead to show
the inherent beauty and versatility of antiques as well
as the potential for mixing them with contemporary
accessories. Good antique furniture is functional as
well as beautiful. It is also the ultimate in recycling,
and its crowning glory in this crucial time of saving
the planet from over-exploitation is, of course, that
not a single tree has to be cut down to make it as it
has all been around for over a hundred years [see Caro’s
article ‘Brown Furniture, the Myth’ in Domani’s website

This delightful shop, situated as it is within a few
yards from the Cathedral, is refreshingly unique and
well worth a visit. It is possible to park outside the
door to collect large items, and if they are too large
to fit in the car, or if you live abroad, delivery can
always be arranged to anywhere in the world. |
