Sherborne, located on the Dorset and Somerset border, is
steeped with history and can certainly be described as
one of the most beautiful towns in England, its
magnificent abbey and castles, dominating the landscape.
The shop windows offer the promise of both traditional
and contemporary living with room settings of period
sofas and armchairs in wonderful contemporary fabrics to
fabulous, high end, 20th century design classics, whilst
contemporary artworks bring a refreshingly
unconventional feel to the town.
Getting there: Sherborne is 20 miles north of
Dorchester on the A352, and 5 miles east of Yeovil on
the A30, adjoining one of the main veins of the west,
the A303.
Parking: There are plenty of paid-for parking spots
at the north and south ends of the town, neither further
than a few minutes' walk from the centre. Access to the
main Cheap Street, is limited to foot unless before 11am
or after 4pm, when cars are allowed through.
