The
broad Roman road, which runs through the wide High
street of Moreton-in- Marsh, is lined with elegant 17th
and 18th Century buildings. Today, it is filled with
independent shops, - with little room for brand names -
teashops, restaurants, antique dealers, art galleries
and Interiors shops. There is always a buzz in the air
when the Tuesday street market, the largest open-air
market in the Cotswolds, takes place.
Getting there: From Stow-onthe- Wold follow the A429
north for six miles. Less than two hours from London, it
sits astride the ancient Roman Fosse Way, at the
junction of roads from Birmingham, Oxford, Cheltenham,
Warwick, and Cirencester.
Parking: There is unlimited free parking available
around the town but it can be difficult to find a space
on market day; alternatively there is a pay and display
car park available in Station Road. |
