It’s so
handy when you can take a trip out shopping for a bit of
interior inspiration, and come across two neighbouring
towns that can provide the whole ensemble! Langport
claims to be the smallest town in England, but it
certainly doesn’t lack in charming shops and places to
eat.
Everything, from unique pieces of upholstered or bespoke
painted furniture, to carefully selected fabrics and
soft furnishings can be unearthed, with all the advice
you’ll need to guide you. Just five miles down the road
is the beautiful town of Somerton, which has a strong
sense of community, with various cafés, tearooms,
country pubs, and restaurants in which to meet.
The town
also has an interesting selection of specialist shops
and one of the UK’s most respected fireplace carving
companies is based here. With the sheer volume of
dealers present within the town’s antiques centres, it
earns the well deserved title as a hot spot for
interiors.
Getting there: Langport is situated between the M5
at Taunton, and the A303. Somerton is just five minutes
from the Podimore junction of the A303, and 20 minutes
from junction 25 on the M5.
|
|
Parking: Both towns provide good sized paid-for car
parks for their visitors, with free roadside parking in
select places. |

Situated
right in the centre of Somerton,
are two of the towns’ most
popular antique centres, Old
Town Hall Antiques and Market
Cross Antiques & Decorative
Furnishings. The 50 dealers who
trade across both premises,
offer the visitor a delightful
mix of antique and contemporary
designs to furnish the modern
home.

Open
Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm.
