Salisbury has the most spectacularly beautiful cathedral
in Britain – well, certainly the spire is the tallest
medieval structure in the world! The medieval streets
are lined with half-timbered houses and tall gables,
rejoicing in names like Ox Row, Silver Street, and Fish
Row. The city offers an irresistible kaleidoscope of
past and present styles, its cosmopolitan feel rooted in
the various interior decorators and designers,
specialist centres for antiques and interior décor, and
some all-inspiring contemporary art galleries.
Getting there: Salisbury was always a major regional
crossroads, and this is still the case today, with the
A30, A36, A338, A345 and A360 main roads crossing here.
Parking: Four park and ride sites serve the main
roads into the city. As parking can be tricky, there are
also a number of smaller car parks dotted about the
city.
